Tervetuloa valokuvablogiini seuraamaan taivaan tapahtumia eri vuoden- ja vuorokauden aikoina! Kuvauspaikat ovat Etelä-Suomessa yleensä Espoossa, Helsingissä ja Hämeenlinnassa.

Elokuun 2006 loppuun asti päivitysmetodini oli toinen, mutta syyskuusta 2006 lähtien pätee uusi metodi. Siitä esittelyä alla:

Tämä blogi on osa kolmen blogin (muut ovat linkeissä ensimmäisenä) trilogiaa, jossa tuon esille luonnon ja ympäristön esteteettisiä arvoja ja bioklimaattisia prosesseja. Tavoitteeni on saada blogieni lukijat ja katselijat huomaamaan tavallistenkin luonnonilmiöiden esteettisiä piirteitä ja niiden keskinäisiä vuorovaikutussuhteita. Blogeihini tulee tarttumaan myös ilmastonmuutokseen liittyviä poikkeuksellisia olosuhteita, joiden esilletuonti on tärkeää.

Luovan sielun ja maisema-arkkitehdin näkökulma tarkoittaa näiden seikkojen visualisoimista taiteellisesti, mutta samalla taltioiden tieteellisen tarkasti ja kattavasti sen, miltä kukin tilanne näytti ko. hetkellä; yhtäältä vaatimatonkin voi olla erittäin kaunista ja toisaalta poikkeuksellinen / näyttävä ilmiö voi olla paljon enemmän kuin mitä "pinta" antaa ymmärtää.

Pyrin asioiden kansanomaiseen esilletuontiin, mutta osa informaation kunnollisesta ymmärtämisestä vaatii ensin perehtymistä meteorologian ym. luonnonilmiöiden perusasioihin. Joka tapauksessa blogini tarjoavat jokaiselle jotain; niin taiteilija, tiedemies kuin ns. tavallinen kaduntallaaja on nyt kutsuttu mukaan näkemään ja kokemaan eräänlaisten ympäristöjen luontoa eri tarpeiden mukaan hauskan visuaalisesta syvällisen analyyttiseen. Oma asenteeni; vieraalla planeetalla tutkimusta tekevä lapsenmielinen hullu professori ;)

Kukin kuva on laitettu kronologisesti paikalleen siten, että kunkin merkinnän aika vastaa kellontarkasti kuvanottohetkeä. Kuvien ottamisessa olen noudattanut kahta tapaa vaihtelevasti; suunnitelmallisessa tavassa olen ennakoinut eri seikkojen avulla tulevan ilmiön olemusta kuvausta varten ja intuitiivisessa tavassa olen vapaasti ja avoimesti kuvannut sen, mikä on tullut vastaani sattumalta. Suunnitelmallisuutta tukevat yleensä sääennusteet (sekä omat päätelmät että kaikki muut viralliset ennusteet), tilanteiden tietäminen tiettyinä vuodenaikojen / vuorokaudenaikojen hetkinä luonnonkierrossa ja päätökset kuvata jonkin teeman mukaan. Intuitiivinen tapa saa voimaa siitä, jos oivaltaa eri olosuhteiden eroja. Eli on tuntumaa suunnata havainnointia, vaikkei heti tietäisikään mitä kuvattavaa löytyisi.

Seuraavaksi kerron tämän blogin uuden päivitysmetodin sisällöstä:

Lämpötila: Kertoo ko. päivän alimman ja ylimmän lämpötilan Helsingin Puistolan sääasemalta.

Sademäärä: Kertoo ko. päivän sademäärän Helsingin Puistolan sääasemalta. Asema ei kerro kaikkea koko seudun tai tarkastelualueen sateista etenkin kesäaikana, jolloin sateissa on suurta paikallista vaihtelua. Tarpeen mukaan sateista kerrotaan lisää.

Pilvilajit: Kertoo kuvauspaikan, kuvassa nähtävät pilvilajit, ko. ilmamassa- / säätilannetyypin jossa pilvet esiintyivät ja pilvien kuvaussuunnan, kulkusuunnan & -nopeuden. Kulkusuunta mainitaan ilmansuuntina. Mainintoja on myös ilmamassojen ominaisuuksista.

Säätilanne (Suomi): Kertoo kuvan tilanteessa ja vähän ennen sitä olleista säätilanteista Suomen ja sen lähiympäristön mittakaavassa. Säätilanteiden kuvailut sisältävät termistöä ja asioita, joita voi käydä tarkistamassa sääkartoilta kunkin merkinnän Wetter3 -sivujen linkeistä.

Säätilanne (kuva): Kertoo kuvan tilanteessa ja vähän ennen sitä olleista säätilanteista kuvassa olevan pilvitilanteen mittakaavassa ja analysoi kuvassa olevaa / olevia pilvilajeja. Säätilanteiden kuvailut sisältävät termistöä ja asioita, joita voi käydä tarkistamassa sääkartoilta kunkin merkinnän Wetter3 -sivujen linkeistä.

Huomioita: Kertoo ko. päivän säätilanteesta yleistä, mitä ei muissa kohdissa vielä oltu mainittu. Tarkentaa jo mainittuja tietoja tai lisää joitakin oleellisia / poikkeuksellisia havaintoja. Kertoo yleistä myös väliin jääneiden päivien säästä / jatkossa tapahtuneesta säästä.

Jos ko. päivä sisältää useita kuvia, niin silloin vain alin kuva sisältää nämä kaikki kappaleet. Muissa saman päivän kuvissa on vain tilanteen vaatimat tiedot.

Jokainen merkintä sisältää lopussa linkkejä, jotka laajentavat kuvan ja tekstien tarjoamaa tietoa ja osoittavat laajassa mitassa ko. ilmiön kuuluvan osaksi erilaisia vuorovaikutussuhteita. Linkit tarjoavat erinomaisen kentän muidenkin luonnon piirteiden tutkimiseen eikä vain ko. ilmiön.

Seuraavassa linkeistä: Laitan jokaiseen merkintään säätilastolinkin. Se näyttää Helsingin Puistolan säätietoja. Lämpötilatiedot viittaavat näissä blogeissa yleensä ko. tilastoon. Wetter3 palvelun sääkartat (linkit niihin) kuvaavat säätilanteita Euroopan mittakaavassa ja Gaisma -sivustolta olen poiminut auringon nousu- ja laskuajat Helsingissä. Siinä on havainnollinen kuva myös hämärän ja pimeän ajankohdista kaikkina vuodenaikoina. Jokaisen merkinnän lopussa on myös linkki Flickr -sivuillani oleviin ko. blogin kuukausittaisiin kuvasarjoihin. Kuvat ovat kuvasarjoissa samassa aikajärjestyksessä kuin ko. blogissa. Linkit kuviin ovat kahtena versiona. Flickr -kuvien tarkoitus on olla päivitettynä nykyhetkeen (lähes) ja olla siten tässä tilanteessa maistiaisia ja pelkkiä kuvaelämyksiä ilman tässä blogissa olevaa tietoa.

Lopuksi kerron tarkemmin noiden Wetter3 -palvelun Euroopan sääkartoista.

Wetter3 A. linkki; käyttökelpoisimmat (kansantajuisimmat) sääkartat ovat mm.:

Niederschlagsstärke, u. -form, Bodendrück, jossa nähdään samalla kartalla meren pinnan tasoon redusoitu ilmanpaine (tai pintapaine), sateen voimakkuus ja sateen olomuoto. Kartasta nähdään siten hyvin mm. rintamiin liittyvien sateiden sijainnit, ilmamassojen sijainnit ja tuuliolosuhteet. Kartta 10 m Wind kertoisi tuuliolosuhteista nuolien avulla, mutta kannattaa mieluummin opetella lukemaan tuulen suunnat ja voimakkuudet suoraan ilmanpainekäyristä, sillä ne kertovat samat asiat paljon selkeämmin, tarkemmin ja yksinkertaisemmin kartan jokaisella pisteellä. Ilmanpainekäyrien muodostamasta painekentästä voidaan lukea myös eri ilmamassojen liikkeitä ja ominaisuuksia etenkin, kun sitä verrataan toiseen hyvään karttaan; 2 m Temperatur. Siinä nähdään ilman lämpötila kahden metrin korkeudessa jokaisella kartan pisteellä värikenttinä. Värikentin esitetyt lämpötilat auttavat eri ilmamassojen liikkeiden ja ominaisuuksien havainnointia. Niederschlagsumme -kartta kertoo sademäärän kuuden tunnin jaksoissa. Kaikkia näitä karttoja voidaan tarkastella kuuden tunnin välein myös animaatioina, mikä avartaa informaatiota edelleen; liike havainnollistaa muutosta monin tavoin ja paljastaa lisää ominaisuuksia.

Wetter3 B. -linkki:

Tässä on perinteisempi sääkartta myös kuuden tunnin jaksoilla, jossa meren pinnan tasoon redusoitujen ilmanpainekäyrien lisäksi on merkitty säärintamat. Merkittyjen rintamien avulla eri ilmamassojen sijainnit tarkentuvat vielä lisää em. karttoihin nähden. Kartassa nähdään myös eri sääasemien toteutuneita havaintoja, mutta niiden lukeminen kartasta ei ole kovin havainnollista esim. verrattuna Wetter3 A. -linkin 2 m Temperatur -kartan informaatioon.

Wellcome to my photo blog to observe happenings in the sky during different seasons and times of day! The photoshooting scenes are in southern Finland usually at Espoo, Helsinki and Hämeenlinna. Up to the end of August 2006 i had an other updating method, but from September 2006 onwards there's a new method holding true. There's presentation about that below:

This blog is a part of the trilogy of three blogs (the others are in the links the first), where i bring foward esthetic values and bioclimatic processes of nature and environment. My aim is to get the readers and watchers of my blogs to notice esthetic appearances of also ordinary natural phenomenons and interactive relationships between them. There will be grabbing also unusual circumstances into my blogs as associated with the climate change. Bringing them up is important.

The view of a creative soul and a landscape architect means visualization of these matters in an artistic way, but at the same time capturing scientifically precisely and comprehensively how every moment appeared at the time in question; in one hand modest as well can be very beautifull and on the other hand an unusual / showy phenomenon can be much more than "meets the eye".

I aim to bring out matters in a vernacular way, but a part of understanding matters properly requires getting to know basic matters of meteorology and other natural phenomenons first. In any case my blogs will offer something to everybody; both a scientist, an artist and a so called ordinary man is now invited along to see and experience nature of one kinds of environments according to different needs from funnily visual to deeply analytical. My own attitude; on an unknown planet a childlike mad professor making a research and a creative work ;)

Every picture is put chronologically in place in the way that timestamp of every post marks precisely the shooting times of the photos. In the photographing i have followed two methods variably; in the systematical method i have foreseen the appearance of the coming phenomenon for the photographing with the help of different matters. In the intuitive method i have freely and openly photographed what have come in my way by chance. The systematical method is sustained usually by the weather forecasts (both my own conclusions and every other official forecasts), knowing of the certain moments at different times of seasons and days in the cycle of nature and decisions to photograph according to a some theme. The intuitive method gets power from the fact, if one realizes differences between different circumstances. In other words one has a touch to channel observation, despite one doesn't have a glue what there would be to be photographed.

Next i'll tell you about the substance of the new updating method concerning this blog:

Temperature: Tells the minimum and maximum temperature of the day in question at the weather station of Puistola district in Helsinki (Finland).

Precipitation: Tells the amount of precipitation of the day in question at the weather station of Puistola district in Helsinki (Finland). The station won't tell all about the rains in the region / observed area especially during summer, when there are big local differences in precipitation. There will be more about the rains when needed.

Cloud Types: Tells the photoshooting place, about the cloud types in the picture, the air mass / weather condition type in question where the clouds appeared and the photoshoot direction, moving direction & speed of the clouds. The moving direction is mentioned as cardinal points. There are mentions about the properties of air masses as well.

Weather condition (Finland): Tells about the weather conditions in the situation of the picture and a bit before that in the scale of Finland and its nearby areas. Illustrations of the weather conditions include terms and matters, which one can check out from the weather maps in the links of Wetter3 pages on every post.

Weather condition (the picture): Tells about the weather conditions in the situation of the picture and a bit before that in the scale of the cloud situation in the picture and analyzes the cloud type / types in the photo. Illustrations of the weather conditions include terms and matters, which one can check out from the weather maps in the links of Wetter3 pages on every post.

Notes: Tells generally about the weather at the day in question, which wasn't told yet in the other entrys. Defines allready told matters or adds some cruicial / unusual observations. Tells generally about the weather of days left between as well / the weather happened afterwards.

If the day in question includes several photos, therefore only the lowest photo includes all of these paragraphs. In the other photos of the same day there are only the information required by the situation.

Every post includes links at the end, which are widening the information offered by the photos and texts and pointing out in a wide scale the phenomenon in question to be a part of different interactive relationships. The links offer an excellent field to examine other appearances of nature as well and not just the phenomenon in question.

Next about the links: I place a weather chart link on every post. It shows the weather details in the district of Puistola in Helsinki. Information of the air temperature in these blogs refers usually to that chart. In the weather chart: sade = precipitation in mm, lumi = depth of snowcover in cm and maa = soil temperature in the depth of 10cm. The weather maps (the links to them) of Wetter3 service are visualizing weather conditions in the scale of Europe and from the Gaisma pages i have picked up the sunrise and sunset times at Helsinki. In there there's also an illustrative picture about the times of dawn, dusk and darkness during all seasons. At the end of every post there are also a link to my Flickr pages, where the monthly photo sets of the blog in question are. The pictures in the photo sets are in the same time order as they are in the blog in question. The links to the photos are in two versions. The purpose of the Flickr pictures is to be updated to the present time (allmost) and therefore in this situation to be as tasters and plain picture experiences without the matters of this blog.

To the end i'll tell you here also about those Wetter3 - service weathermaps of Europe.

Wetter3 A. link; the most usefull (popular) weathermaps are for example:

Niederschlagsstärke, u. -form, Bodendrück: where we see on the same map the air pressure reduced to the sea level (or the surface pressure), the intensity of precipitation and the form of precipitation. Therefore from the map there is easily observed locations of the precipitation areas associated with the weather fronts, the locations of different air masses and wind conditions. The map 10 m Wind would tell the wind conditions with arrows, but it is preferably endorsed to learn reading the directions and strengths of the wind straight from the isobar lines, because they tell the same facts much more clearer, accurately and simple on every spot of the map. From the isobars which make the pressure field it can be read also movements and properties of different air masses especially, when it's compared with another great map; 2 m Temperatur. In there the air temperature is seen in the height of 2 metres on every spot of the map as coloured fields. The temperatures defined with the colour fields help to observe movements and properties of different air masses. Niederschlagsumme map shows the amount of precipitation in six hour intervals. All these maps can be observed in six hour intervals also as animations, which widens the information further; movement illustrates the change in many ways and reveals more properties.

Wetter3 B. link:

In here there is a more traditional weather map also with the six hour intervals, where in addition to the sea level reduced pressure isobars are marked weather fronts. With the help of the marked fronts locations of different air masses become more accurate as compared to the mentioned maps. In the map we see also materialized observations of different weather stations, but reading of them from the map isn't so illustrative for example when compared to the information on the Wetter3 A. link map 2 m Temperatur.

Linnut; valkoposkihanhi (Branta leucopsis). Kuvaussuunta on Espoon Tapiolassa itäkaakko - Stratocumulus clouds and in the horizon the withdrawing cumulonimbus cloud lit by the sun. As the rain paused the hazeless air brought forms of the clouds well in display. The birds; Barnacle Goose (Branta leucopsis). The photoshoot direction is east-southeast in the district of Tapiola in Espoo.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Tässä vaiheessa rintamapilvisyys oli kaikonnut etelään ja myös Hämeenlinnassa (kuva on otettu ko. paikassa lounaistaivaalle) taivaalle jäi loppupäivän ajaksi yhtenäisesti kumpukerrospilviä. Ne olivat alimpana pilvisyytenä jo rintamapilvien alla viileämmän polaari-ilman saavuttua. Pilvet liikkuivat kohtalaisesti etelään ja niiden muodot näkyivät selkeästi uduttomassa ilmamassassa - At this phase the frontal cloudiness had been withdrawn to the south and also at Hämeenlinna (the photo is taken in the place in question towards southwestern sky) there remained stratocumulus clouds evenly for the latter part of the day. They were allready under the frontal cloudyness as the cooler polaric air mass arrived. The clouds moved moderately to the south and their shapes appeared clearly in the haze-free air mass.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Tässä oli sadepilveksi paksuuntunutta osaa rintamapilvisyydestä. Se näkyi uduttoman ilmamassan takia selkeän kokkareisena. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa pohjoistaivaalle, jossa suunnassa verhopilvien paksuuntuminen sadepilviksi alkoi näkyä ensimmäisenä. Sadetta tuli päivän aikana silti vain vähän - In here there was a part of the frontal cloudiness thickened into a nimbostratus cloud. It appeared clumpy in a clear way due to the haze-free air mass. The photo is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards northern sky, where the thickening of the altostratus clouds into the nimbostratus clouds started to show the first. There came only little of rain during the day, though.

Syksyisen korkeapaineen profiilikkaita pilviä - Profilic clouds of the autumnal high pressure

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Hahtuvapilvien väheneminen jatkui ja nyt pilvikerroksen aaltomainen rakenne oli sen takia kadonnut. Hahtuva- ja sumupilvisyyttä jäi kuitenkin yöksi jonkin verran. Näin myöhään syksyllä aurinko oli laskemassa jo nyt. Sen takia pilvissä oli tässä vaiheessa hienot iltaruskon värit. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa länsitaivaalle - The decreasing of the altocumulus clouds continued and now the undulating structure was disappeared due to that. However there remained somewhat of altocumulus and stratus clouds for the night. So late in the autumn the sun was setting allready now. Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Hahtuvapilvet alkoivat vähetä alkuillan mittaan ja tässä vaiheessa sinistä taivasta näkyi jo hyvin; keskileveysasteiden ilmamassa oli kuivumassa edellisestä päivästä. Tässä pilvilaji on kuvattu luoteistaivaalle Espoon Tapiolassa. Aikaisemmin aamulla yön sumut ja sumupilvet viipyivät paikoin myös tällä alueella ja yöllä tuli vähän sadetta. Kuva on otettu Helsingin Pasilassa lounaistaivaalle. Tyynessä säässä pilvien kulkusuuntaa ei juuri havainnut; koillisesta lounaaseen. Näiden pilvien yläpuolella liikkui alkupäivällä kaakkoon edellisen päivän rintaman jäänteen untuva- ja harsopilviä - Stratocumulus clouds as a broken layer. Elsewhere in the sky there was locally stratus clouds. Earlier in the morning fog and stratus clouds of the night lingered locally at this region as well and there came a bit of rain at night. The photo is taken towards southwestern sky in the district of Pasila in Helsinki. In the calm weather one hardly didn't notice the movement of the clouds; from the northeast to the southwest. Above these clouds during early day there moved to the southeast cirrus and cirrostratus clouds of the front's remain.

They formed from the previous day's stratocumulus clouds and from the humidity of the night in an allmost calm weather. On the opposite site above these clouds there was approaching cloudiness of a weakening front; cirrus, altostratus and altocumulus clouds.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Hahtuvapilvilauttoja jäänteenä itään siirtyneistä kuurosateista. Niiden joukossa näkyi vielä viimeiset auringossa hohtaneet kuuropilvien yläosat (keskellä kuvan alaosaa). Viileänä vuodenaikana kuuroissa ei ollut enää ukkosta. Kuivuneessa polaari-ilmamassassa taivaan sinisyys näkyi voimakkaana. Among them there appeared yet the last cumulonimbus cloud tops glowed in the sun (in the middle of the photo's lower part). In the cool season there wasn't thunder anymore in the showers. In the dried up polaric air mass the blueness of the sky appeared strongly. The photo is taken in Hämeenlinna towards southeastern sky.

Sumupilvien kokkareiset osat liikkuivat melko voimakkaan lounaistuulen mukana tyypillisen vauhdikkaasti. The clouds hidd away the frontal clouds above them; altocumulus, altostratus and nimbostratus clouds. The clumpy parts of the stratus clouds moved typically fast along with the rather strong southwesterly wind. Haze blurred a bit the view.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Päivän mittaan pilvisyys väheni hieman, mutta hahtuva-, kumpukerros- ja kuuropilviä oli edelleen etenkin meren yllä. Tässä oli yksi kuuropilvi kuvattuna Helsingin Vuosaaressa kohti etelätaivasta (merelle). Pilvessä saattoi olla vähän ukkosta, mutta en havainnut sitä. Pilvet olivat hitaassa liikkeessä koilliseen - The cloudiness decreased a bit during the day, but altocumulus, stratocumulus and cumulonimbus clouds appeared further especially over the sea. Here was one cumulonimbus cloud photographed in the district of Vuosaari in Helsinki towards southern sky (to the sea). There might have been a bit of thunder in the cloud, but I didn't notice it. The clouds were on a slow move to the northeast.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Rakoilevaa kerrosta kumpukerrospilviä kuvattuna Espoon Tapiolassa kohti koillistaivasta. Pilvet liikkuivat lounaasta koilliseen. Hieman voimistunut lounaistuuli oli tässä vaiheessa haihduttanut udun. Tällöin paikalle saapuneen ilmamassan kuivahko ominaisuus pääsi esille. Paikkaa lähestyivät lopulta sadepilvetkin; vähäistä sadetta. Pilvien kulkusuunta alkoi muuttua luoteeseen - pohjoiseen. Laskevan auringon rusko näkyi nyt vähän näissä pilvissä - As photographed to the northeastern sky from allmost the same spot (as the previous photo) we see the stratus clouds transformed more clumpy among stratocumulus clouds due to the influence of a cold front approached from the north. The scene was approached finally by nimbostratus clouds as well; a light rain. The moving direction of the clouds started to shift to the northwest - north. Tones of the sunset colours appeared now a bit on these clouds.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Tässä vaiheessa aurinko alkoi laskea ja iltaruskon värit muodostuivat pilviin. Kuvassa on verhopilveä, joka oli kehittynyt hieman hahtuvapilvien suuntaan. Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Tämä kylmän rintaman etureunassa ollut pilvivyöhyke sisälsi ajoittain ja paikoin myös hahtuvapilviä. Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Heti kylmän rintaman jälkipuolella saapui länsiluoteesta kumpupilviä tyypilliseen polaari-ilmamassan tapaan. Melko voimakkaassa tuulessa pilvet liikkuivat nopeasti lännestä itään. Kuva on otettu samasta kohdasta kuin edellinen kuva, mutta kohti pohjoistaivasta. Kuva on otettu Helsingin Siltamäessä koillistaivaalle - After the cold front as the weather was turned clear a leading edge of the stratocumulus cloud mass associating with the cold polaric air mass. The movement rather fast from the north to the south. Due to the disappeared haze the blueness of the sky was appearing strongly again. The photo is taken in the district of Siltamäki in Helsinki towards northeastern sky.

Yksittäiset pilvimassan osat liikkuivat nopeahkosti itään - kaakkoon, mutta pilvimassa eteni kokonaisuudessaan hitaasti etelään. Utu samensi jonkin verran pilvien näkymistä. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa kaakkoistaivaalle - Cirrostratus, altostratus and altocumulus clouds associating with a cold front approaching from the north. The cloud mass was assembled into showy stripes along the direction of the front. Single parts of the cloud mass were moving rather fast to the east - southeast, but the cloud mass as a whole proceeded slowly to the south. Haze blurred the appearing of the clouds somewhat. The photo is taken in the distric of Tapiola in Espoo towards southeastern sky.

Säätilanne (Suomi) - Weather Condition (Finland): Kollisessa olleen voimakkaan matalapaineen ja luoteesta vahvistuneen korkeapaineen yhteisvaikutuksesta etelään eteni aikaisempaa huomattavasti kylmempää ilmaa pohjoisesta. Ko. päivän aikana kylmän ilmamassan etureunassa eteni ns. kuiva kylmä rintama, koska siitä ei tullut sadetta tai tuli hyvin vähän - With the simultanious effect by a strong low pressure in the northeast and a high pressure strengthening from the northwest there proceeded much colder air than before from the north. During the day in question in the leading edge of the cold air mass there proceeded a so called dry cold front, because it didn't give rain or it gave very little.

Säätilanne (kuva) - Weather Condition (the picture): Kylmän rintaman hyvin hitaan etenemisen vuoksi pilvimassa jäi elämään vaihtelevasti Etelä-Suomen päälle. Havaintopaikka säilyi iltapäivään asti rintaman lämpimämmällä puolella, jonka tunnisti ilmamassan udusta (ja korkeasta lämpötilasta). Rintaman jälkipuolella utu hävisi ja pilvimassan jyrkkä takareuna alkoi lähestymään pohjoisesta - Due to the very slow proceeding of the cold front the cloud mass stayed over southern Finland to evolve variably. The observation post remained in the warmer side of the front up to the afternoon, which was identified by the haze of the air mass (and the high temperature). In the afterside of the front haze disappeared and the sharp back edge of the cloud mass started to approach from the north.

Huomioita - Notes: Tässä tilanteessa yö oli paljon lämpimämpi kuin seurannut ilta, koska yöllä vaikutti vielä lämmin ilmamassa ja runsastuva pilvisyys; yön alin lämpötila oli selvästi yli +10 astetta - In this situation the night was much warmer than the followed evening, because at night there influenced yet the warm air mass and an increasing cloudyness; the minimum temperature of the night was well over +10 C.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Nopeahkosti länsilounaasta liikkuneita sumupilviä. Sumupilvet saapuivat mereltä vähän voimistuneen länsi - lounaistuulen myötä. Utu oli lisääntymässä edelleen - Stratus clouds moved moderately - fast from the west - southwest. The stratus clouds arrived from the sea due to the little stregthened westerly - southwesterly wind. Haze was increasing further.

Säätilanne (kuva) - Weather Condition (picture): Sumupilvien ilmestymistä edesauttoi riittävän kostea ilmamassa, joka saapui meren pinnan yli tälle paikalle. Asiaan vaikutti myös auringonsäteilyn väheneminen auringon laskiessa. Pilvien nopeaa liikettä korosti heikohkosta tuulesta huolimatta niiden matala sijainti taivaalla - The appearing of the stratus clouds was helped by the humid enough air mass, which arrived to the scene along the sea surface. Decreasing sun radiation of the setting sun was also affecting to the matter. The fast speed of the clouds was emphazised by their low appearing altitude in the sky despite the rather weak wind.

Huomioita - Notes: Illan mittaan sumupilvet eivät lisääntyneet, vaan ennen pohjoisesta lähestyvää rintamaa sää säilyi enimmäkseen selkeänä; tuuli kääntyi luoteemmaksi pois mereltä - During the evening the stratus clouds weren't increasing, but the weather remained mostly clear before the cold front arriving from the north; the wind turned away from the sea more northwestwards.

Säätilanne (Suomi) - Weather Condition (Finland): Suomen eteläpuolella viipyi edelleen korkeapaine, jonka pohjoispuolitse lännestä saapui ajankohtaan nähden lämmintä ja merellistä keskileveysasteiden ilmamassaa. Jäämerellä olleen matalapaineen jälkipuolella etelään oli kuitenkin etenemässä kylmää ilmaa, joka oli tässä vaiheessa jo Lapissa. Kylmän ilman etenemistä auttoi luoteesta vahvistuva korkeapaine - In the southern side of Finland there lingered further a high pressure, which circulated along its northern side unseasonably warm marine middle latitude air mass. However, in the afterside of the low pressure in the Arctic Ocean there was moving cold air southwards. At this phase it was allready in Lapland (northern Finland). Proceeding of the cold air was aided by a high pressure strengthening from the northwest.

Paikalle saapuneessa keskileveysasteiden ilmamassassa oli vähän utua; taivaan sinisyys näkyi vielä hyvin. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa koillistaivaalle - In the situation of the picture cirrus clouds associating with a warm front had just been withdrawn completely to the eastern horizon. In the middle latitude air mass arrived into the scene there was a little haze; the blueness of the sky showed yet well. The photo is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards northeastern sky.

The warm air was marinely humid, so therefore during calm winds there formed fog and stratus clouds in many places during the last couple of nights and mornings.

Huomioita - Notes: Tänä yönä viimeisen lämpimän annoksen etureunassa itään edennyt lämmin rintama piti pilvisyyden niin runsaana, että se näkyi lämpötilaerona edelliseen yöhön verrattuna - During this night the warm front proceeding to the east in the leading edge of the last portion of warm air kept the cloudyness so much dense, that it showed as a difference of temperature between this and the previous night.

Kuva on otettu Hämeenlinnassa lounaistaivaalle - Decreasing stratocumulus and altocumulus clouds. The slowly calming down northerly wind moved the clouds yet in a moderate speed. The photo is taken in Hämeenlinna towards southwestern sky.

Luoteessa lähestyneen lämpimän rintaman untuvapilviä alkoi myöhemmin ilmaantumaan läntiselle taivaanrannalle - The low pressure in the east started to move away with its fronts during the evening. Therefore the cloudyness disappeared allmost completely. Cirrus clouds of the warm front approaching from the northeast started to appear later in the western horizon.

Huomioita - Notes: Auringon laskiessa pilvet olivat sen verran vähäisiä, että iltaruskosta ei tullut näyttävää. The clearness of the cool and rather dry air mass caused the appearances of the clouds apprear well. The movement rather fast from the north to the south. The photo is taken in Hämeenlinna towards southwestern sky.

Säätilanne (Suomi) - Weather Condition (Finland): Matalapaine jäi vielä melko voimakkaana Suomen itäpuolelle. Sen myötä pohjoistuuli heikkeni vain hitaasti. Luoteessa lähestyi uusi rintamasysteemi ja idän matalapaineesta kiertyi okluusiorintama (tai lämmin rintama tulkinnasta riippuen) lähellä idässä - The low pressure remained in the eastern side of Finland being rather strong yet. Due to that the northerly wind calmed down only slowly. In the northwest there approached a new frontal system and the eastern low pressure circulated an occluded front (or a warm front depending of the interpretation) near in the east.

Itäiseen rintamaan liittyen tämän pilvikerroksen yläpuolella esiintyi päivän aikana vaihtelevasti untuva-, harso- ja verhopilviä. Associating with the eastern front there appeared variably cirrus, cirrostratus and altostratus clouds above this layer of clouds. During the early part of the day there didn't rain at the observation area (very little at the weather station of Helsinki), allthough the precipitation area of the front lingered near. The coolness of the air mass and the dense cloudyness didn't favour convective formation of cumulus clouds; no showers.

Huomioita - Notes: Edellisen illan jälkeen pilvimassa runsastui ja pysyi runsaana tähän asti. Sen ja voimakkaan tuulen takia yö oli suhteellisen lämmin ja lämpötilan vuorokausivaihtelu pieni - After the previous evening the cloud mass got more dense and stayed dense up to here. Due to that and the strong wind the night was relatively warm and the cycle of night and afternoon temperature was small.

Kylmää ilmamassaa edeltäviä matalan keskuksen kuuroja - Showers of a low pressure center preceding a cold air mass

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Sama kuuropilvi kuin edellisessä kuvassa. Tässä kuvattuna lounaistaivaalle. Kuuropilven yhteydessä oli verhopilvimäinen yläosa, jonka läpi aurinko kuulsi. Verhopilvi oli melko laaja; jäänne kuuroalueen alkuvaiheista. Kuvassa näkyy kuuropilven kumpumaisten osien järjestyminen lounais - koillissuuntaiseksi jonoksi, joka liikkui itään - kaakkoon - The same cumulonimbus cloud as in the previous photo. In here photographed towards southwestern sky. Associating with the cumulonimbus cloud there was an altostratus-like upper part, through which the sun glowed. The altostratus cloud was rather wide; a remain of early stages of the shower area. In the photo there is seen a lining of the cumuliform parts of the cumulonimbus cloud along the direction of southwest - northeast, which moved to the east - southeast.

Huomioita - Notes: Vaikka sadekuurot olivat paikoin rankkoja, niin niistä ei niiden lyhytkestoisuuden takia kertynyt runsaita sademääriä. Tässä vaiheessa myös tyypillinen kesän vaikutus ilmeni vielä; sateissa oli suuria paikallisia eroja. Kts. sademäärää ko. sääasemalla - Allthough the showers were locally heavy, there didn''t accumulate large amounts of precipitation due to their short rotation. A this stage a typical summery influence appeared as well; there was big local differences in the amounts of rain. Look at the amount of rain at the weather station in question.

In the situation the shower had just been crossed the scene. The movement of the cloud from the northwest to the southeast moderately. The photo is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo rather up towards southern sky.

In the evening in the afterside of the low pressure a cool northerly wind was strong and gusty.

Osaltaan sen takia kuuropilvien konvektio eli niiden nousevat ilmavirrat eivät riittäneet niiden kehittymiseen ukkospilviksi asti. Sadealueen kosteuden jäljiltä matalan keskuksessa oli yöllä ja aamulla myös sumupilviä ja tiivistä kumpukerrospilveä. Illalla pohjoistuuli toi viileän ja kuivemman ilmamassan, jolloin pilvet vähenivät tilapäisesti - The air mass had allready been cooled a bit after the occluded front (a cold occlusion). Partly because of that a convection or in other words updraft air flows of the cumulonimbus clouds weren't enough for them to evolve into thunder clouds. As a remain of the precipitation area there was also stratus clouds and thight stratocumulus clouds during the night and morning. In the evening the northerly wind brought a cool and dry air mass and therefore the clouds decreased temporarily.

Huomioita - Notes: Kuuropilven yhteydessä oli tyypillinen navakaksi voimistunut puuska. Tämä kuuro oli päivän useista kuuroista voimakkain ja tämän jälkeen pohjoistuuli alkoi valtaamaan alaa - Associating with the cumulonimbus cloud there was typically a gust strengthened into fresh. Koko pilvimassan liike hitaasti pohjoisesta etelään. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa etelätaivaalle - A stratocumulus cloudyness of a rather cool polaric air mass. The darker spots showed the stronger (more convective) cumulus clouds evolved among the cloud layer. The movement of the whole cloud mass slowly from the north to the south. The picture is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards southern sky.

Säätilanne (Suomi) - Weather Condition (Finland): Matalapaine oli heikkenemässä Suomen itäpuolella. There was fusing low pressure subcenters from the west into it, but Finland was in the middle of the western and eastern fronts in an area of weak northerly winds.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Etenkin oikeassa alakulmassa untuvapilviä ja keskellä juuri kehittynyttä palleropilvilauttaa. Molempien liike hitaasti koillisesta lounaaseen. The lowpressure evolved in such a way, that a northerly wind picked up a bit during the evening, but a frontal system situated in the east didn't move westwards.

The stripes of the cirrocumulus cloud layer showed windy conditions at that altitude. The earlier cumulus clouds were disappeared since the sunset or transformed into altocumulus and stratocumulus clouds.

Huomioita - Notes: Kuvan tilanteessa aurinko oli laskemassa; untuvapilvet saivat vielä enemmän valoa kuin palleropilvilautta, koska jälkimmäinen kehittyi matalammalle tasolle ja oli auringon edessä olleen kumpukerrospilven varjossa - In the situation of the photo the sun was setting; the cirrus clouds received yet more sunlight than the layer of cirrocumulus clouds, because the latter formed into a lower altitude and was in the shadow of a stratocumulus cloud situated in the front of the sun.

Kumpupilvien liike hitaasti koillisesta lounaaseen ja untuvapilvet näennäisesti lähes paikallaan - Cumulus and cirrus clouds photogarphed towards eastern sky in the district of Siltamäki in Helsinki. The movement of the cumulus clouds slowly from the northeast to the southwest and the cirrus clouds seemingly almost stationary.

Säätilanne (Suomi) - Weather Condition (Finland): Matalapaineen keskus siirtyi Suomen länsipuolelta kaakkoispuolelle yön ja aamun aikana. Sen myötä eteläisen Suomen ylle jäänyt okluusiorintama lähti takaisin länteen ja lounaaseen tuulten käännyttyä pohjoiseen ja koilliseen. Kuvan tilanteessa ko. rintama oli jo lähes hävinneenä Suomen ulkopuolella - The low pressure center moved from the western side of Finland to the southeastern side during the night and morning. Along with that the occluded front stayed over southern Finland got back to the southwest and west as winds were turned to the north and northeast. In the situation of the photo the front was allready almost vanished outside of Finland.

Huomioita - Notes: Yöllä matalapaineen keskuksessa ja ko. heikkenevän rintaman myötä satoi vähän kuurottaisesti sade- ja kumpukerrospilvistä. Tyynessä säässä oli myös utua ja paikoin sumua - sumupilviä, mutta päivällä kuivassa ilmamassassa ilma oli hyvin kirkasta. Aamu oli jo sen verran selkeä, että alin lämpötila laski edellistä yötä huomattavasti matalammaksi - At night in the center of the low pressure and along the mentioned weakening front there was showery rain a little from nimbostratus and stratocumulus clouds. The morning was allready so much clear, that the minimum temperature dropped significantly lower than in the previous night.

Pysähtynyt okluusiorintama matalapaineen keskuksessa - A stopped occluded front in the low pressure center

Alempien pilvien kulku hitaasti lounaasta koilliseen. Yläpilvikerros lähes paikallaan kaakko - luode suuntaisina vöinä. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa länsitaivaalle - On the upper level stratus clouds of an east situated occluded front and on the lower level single stratocumulus clouds (in the photo only couple of small clumps of them) of a rather cool polaric air mass. The movement of the lower clouds slowly from the southwest to the northeast. The upper level cloud layer allmost stationary in southeasterly - northwesterly belts. The picture is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards western sky.

Säätilanne (Suomi) - Weather Condition (Finland): Laajan ja voimakkaan matalapaineen keskus asettui eteläisen Suomen länsireunalle. Siihen liittynyt okluusiorintama pysähtyi Etelä-Suomen ylle lounais - koillissuuntaisesti. The occluded front associated with that stopped over southern Finland in the direction of southwest - northwest. Along with the front and due to the low pressure center the wind calmed down and turned to the southwest - west.

Säätilanne (kuva) - Weather Condition (the picture): Rintamapilvisyys ilmaisi rintaman sijainnin hyvin, koska ko. sadealue voimistui vielä päivän aikana lähellä kuvauspaikan itäpuolella. Pääosa sateista oli kuitenkin jo ohi tässä vaiheessa ko. paikalla. Rintamapilvisyyden takareuna näkyi lounaisella horisontilla - The frontal cloudyness indicated well the situation of the front, because the precipitation area in question got yet stronger during the day near in the eastern side of the photoshooting scene. The back edge of the frontal cloudyness appeared in the southwestern horizon.

Huomioita - Notes: Ilmamassa ei merkittävästi viilentynyt rintaman ylityksen jälkeen, mutta tässä tapauksessa rintama oli ns. kylmä okluusio. Ilmamassan vaihtumisen huomasi matalien kumpukerrospilvien saapumisesta. Rintaman kohdalla yö oli huomattavan lämmin - The air mass didn't cool down significanly after the crossing of the front, but in this case the front was so called cold occlusion. One was able to notise the change of the air mass from the arrival of the low stratocumulus clouds. At the place of the front the night was significantly warm.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Voimakkaan okluusiorintaman etupuolella kehittyneitä ja saapuneita verho-, hahtuva- ja kumpukerrospilviä kuvattuna lounaistaivaalle Hämeenlinnassa. Yksittäisten osien liike etelästä pohjoiseen kohtalaisesti, mutta koko pilvimassa eteni hitaasti koilliseen - Altostratus, altocumulus and stratocumulus clouds in the foreside of the strong occluded front as photographed towards southwestern sky in Hämeenlinna. The movement of single parts moderately from the south to the north, but the whole cloud mass proceeded slowly to the northwest.

Säätilanne (Suomi) - Weather Condition (Finland): Voimakkaasta matalapaineesta huolimatta okluusiorintaman eteneminen hidastui idässä olevan korkeapaineen takia. Siksi rintaman sateet eivät vielä saavuttaneet Hämeenlinnaa - Despite the strong low pressure the proceeding of the occluded front slowed down due to the eastern high pressure. Therefore the precipitation of the front wasn't reaching Hämeenlinna yet.

Heikkenevän rintaman pilviä - Clouds of an weakening front

Movement moderately allmost directly towards the photographer. On backside of the shower there was altocumulus and stratocumulus clouds, which were blurred by the rain of the mentioned shower in the picture.

Huomioita - Notes: Ilmamassa pysyi melko lämpimänä ja rusaasta pilvisyydestä huolimatta päivälämpötila kohosi +20 asteen tienoille. Yöllä melko selkeässä ja tyynessä säässä oli paikoin usvaa - The air mass remained rather warm and despite the plentyfull cloudyness the afternoon temperature rose around +20 C. At night in a rather clear and calm weather there was locally mist.

Tämä kuva on otettu etelätaivaalle samalla paikalla kuin edellinen kuva. Tässä ko. harso- ja verhopilvien raidat näkyivät toisella tavalla kuvaussuunnan takia. Siitä havaitaan, että kaikki pilvimassat eivät olleet täysin samassa linjassa. Nämä pilvet olivat tässä vaiheessa vielä sen verran läpikuultavia, että esim. aurinko olisi paistanut niiden läpi. Se takia tässä tilanteessa noihin iltaruskon sävyihin sekoittui yhtäältä pilvien vähemmän auringon vallolla värittyneita osia ja toisaalta pilvien läpi kuultanutta sinistä taivasta. Tämän vuoksi juuri näiden pilvilajien iltaruskovärit ovat hyvin hienostuneesti vaihtelevia. Ko. pilvien korkean sijainnin ja tässä tilanteessa niiden laajan peittävyyden takia iltarusko näkyi näyttävänä hyvin laajalla alueella Etelä- ja Keski-Suomessa. Vastaava tilanne voi olla myös aamulla, mutta silloin olosuhteiden pitää ilmetä päinvastoin; pilvimassa on länsitaivaalla ja aurinko paistaa selkeältä itätaivaalta. Aikaisemmin päivällä rintaman lähestyminen alkoi ilmetä untuvapilvien kilpenä kaakkoistaivaalla ja lähinnä sisämaassa oli vähän iltapäivän kumpupilviä. This picture is taken towards southern sky at the same place as the previous picture. In here the stripes of the cirrostratus and altostratus clouds in question appeared differently due to the direction of the photoshoot. We observe from it, that all cloud masses weren't completely in the same line. These clouds were at this stage so translucent, that for example the sun would have shined through them. Due to that in this situation among those sunset colours there were fused together in one hand less sunlight coloured parts of the clouds and on the other hand a portion of the blue sky as gleamed through the clouds. Therefore the sunset colours of just these cloud types are very subtly variable. Due to the high altitude of these clouds and in this situation due to their wide covering the sunset colours were seen impressively in a very large area around southern and central Finland. Same kind of situation can appear also in the morning, but then circumstances must be the opposite; the cloud mass is in the western sky and the sun shines from the clear eastern sky. Earlier during the day the approaching of the front started to appear as a shield of cirrus clouds in the southeastern sky and mainly in inlans areas there were a little afternoon cumulus clouds. The northeasterly wind picked up during the day and in the evening it was occasionally fresh as well. There didn't reach rain into the photoshooting scene during the evening. Tehoisa lämpösumma - The Effective Temperature Sum: 1375,7

Kuvauspäivän yönä Etelä-Suomi oli heikon korkeapaineen selänteen alueella ja sää oli melkein selkeää - selkeää. Tuuli oli myös tyyntä, joten yölämpötila ehti laskea alle +10 asteen ja Puistolan tarkastelupisteellä +7,6 asteeseen. Ilmamassa oli kuitenkin edelleen vähän tavanomaista lämpimämpi; päivälämpötila oli +21, 0 astetta. Sumua ja usvaa ehti kehittyä sisämaassa yöllä, mutta etelärannikolla se estyi lähes kokonaan koillistuulen alkaessa vaikuttaa jo aikaisin aamulla merkkinä lähestyvästä matalapaineesta. Ko. matalapaine kehittyi edellisenä päivänä Mustanmeren pohjoispuolella, kun Länsi- ja Keski-Euroopassa jo pitkään ollut viileä ilmamassa kohtasi Kaspianmeren pohjoispuolella olleen kuuman ilmamassan. Kuvauspäivänä matalapaine voimistui nopeasti ja liikkui lähelle Suomen kaakkoispuolelle. Samalla sen sadealue hipoi kaakkoista Suomea illalla. Kyseessä oli voimakas rintamasysteemi ja siksi ko. sadealueen etummaiset pilvet olivat näyttävästi rintaman suuntaisina raitoina ja kilpinä. Rintama ei edennyt kunnolla lännemmäksi illan aikana, jolloin pilvitilanne mahdollisti hyvin näyttävän iltaruskon; laskeva aurinko pääsi valaisemaan lähes selkeältä länsi - luoteistaivaalta itä - kaakkoistaivaan sijoillaan ollutta pilvimassaa. Yllä on tästä iltaruskosta esimerkit kuvattuna Espoon Tapiolassa. Tämä kuva on otettu kaakkoistaivaalle, missä nähdään lounais - koillissuuntaisesti asettuneet harso- ja verhopilvet. During the night of the photoshooting day southern Finland was in the area of a weak ridge of high pressure and the weather was allmost clear - clear. However the air mass was further a bit warmer than usually; the daytime temperature was +21,0 C. Fog and mist had time to develop at night in inland areas, but by the southern coast it was prevented allmost completely, when a northeasterly wind started to affect allready in the early morning as a mark for an approaching low pressure. The low pressure in question formed in the northern side of The Black Sea during the previous day, when the cool air mass prevailed allready for a long time in western and central Europe met the hot air prevailed in the northern side of The Caspian Sea. During the photoshooting day the low pressure strengthened quickly and moved close to the southeastern side of Finland. At the same time its precipitation area verged southeastern Finland during the evening. There was a strong frontal system in question and therefore the foremost clouds of this precipitation area were impressively in stripes and shields along the direction of the front. The front didn't move properly westwards during the evening, so the cloud situation made possible very showy sunset colours; the setting sun was able to shine from the allmost clear western - northwestern sky to the stationary cloud mass in the eastern - southeastern sky. Above there are examples of these sunset colours as photographed in the district of Tapiola in Espoo. This picture is taken towards southeastern sky, where we see the cirrostratus and altostratus clouds assembled along the direction of southwest - northeast. The light of the setting sun was emphasising finely the shapes of the clouds, which were otherwise appearing much evenly before the sunset colours. Weather condition: choose Base Time 30.8.2006. Kuun 27. päivänä edellisten päivien laajaan matalapaineeseen alkoivat voimistua osakeskukset Islannin eteläpuolelle ja eteläiseen Skandinaviaan. Siinä yhteydessä Etelä-Suomea alkoi lähestyä etelästä okluusiorintama, mutta se oli hidasliikkeinen. Aluksi vallitsi 26. päivän kaltainen sää sade- ja ukkoskuuroineen, mutta kaakkoistuulet alkoivat voimistua. Kuun 28. päivänä okluusiorintama jäi eteläisen Suomen reunalle, jolloin kuurosateita oli myös edellisenä yönä ja silloin etenkin Suomenlahden yllä, koska lämmin meri (nyt vähän vajaa +20 astetta) voimisti kuuroja tyypilliseen loppukesän tyyliin. Illalla ja kuvauspäivän yönä ko. rintama liikkui vihdoin Etelä-Suomen yli pohjoiseen, koska em. kaksi matalapainetta yhdistyivät Etelä-Skandinavian tienoille ja sen myötä lounaasta tuleva ilmamassa alkoi työntyä eteenpäin. Tässä tilanteessa aikaisempien kuuro-, kumpukerros-, hahtuva- ja untuvapilvien lisäksi oli myös verho- ja sadepilviä ja yöllä heti rintaman jälkeen sumupilviäkin. Rintaman ylitystä hidasti aluksi kaukana koillisessa ollut korkeapaine. Rintaman ylityksen yhteydessä oli hetken tyyntä ennen tuulen kääntymistä lounaaseen. Ilmamassa viileni hieman tuulen käännyttyä ja kuvauspäivänä ylin lämpötila oli +20 astetta. Ajoittain runsas pilvisyys piti lämpötilat melko korkeina paikoin yölläkin, mutta selvästi lämpimin yö oli kuvauspäivänä rintamaan liittyneen sadealueen ylityksen yhteydessä; lämpötilat olivat paikoin n. +15 astetta, mutta päivän alimmat lukemat saavutettiin vasta illan lopussa sään tyynnyttyä ja seljettyä melkein kokonaan. Rintaman jälkeen iltapäivällä syntyi jälleen kuuroja lounaistuulessa, mutta nyt ukkosta esiintyi lähinnä vain meren yllä. Lämmin meri (myös Itämeri) voimisti kuuroja edelleen selvästi etenkin yöllä. Illalla kuurot katosivat nopeasti korkeapaineen selänteen takia. Tuo kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa luoteistaivaalle. Siinä nähdään jännällä tavalla, kuinka iltapäivän kuurot kehittyivät hyvin eriaikaisesti, koska jo yölläkin ilmamassassa oli kuuroja; oikeassa alakulmassa oli kehityksensä alussa ollut kuuro (kukkakaalimaiset kumpuosat), vasemmassa alakulmassa vähän ylempänä oli vanhan kuuropilven kuitumainen yläosa leviämässä verhopilvikerrokseksi ja kuvan yläosassa oli jo kadonneen kuuron jälkeensä jättämää untuva - harsopilveä. During the 27th day of the month there strengthened two low pressure subcenters in the southern side of Iceland and in the southern Skandinavia. In that moment there started to approach an occluded front from the south to southern Finland, but it was slow moving. At first there prevailed same kind of weather with showers and thunder as in the 26th day, but southeasterly winds started to pick up. During the 28th day the occluded front remained in the edge of southern Finland and then there were showers also at the previous night especially over The Gulf Of Finland, because the warm sea (now a bit under +20 C) strengthened the showers in a typical way of late summer. In the evening and in the night of the photoshooting day the front finally crossed southern Finland to the north, because the mentioned two low pressures fused together around southern Skandinavia and due to that the air mass arriving from the southwest started to move foward. In this situation in addition to the earlier cumulonimbus, stratocumulus, altocumulus and cirrus clouds there were also altostratus and nimbostratus clouds and at night straight after the front stratus clouds as well. The crossing of the front was slowed down at first by a high pressure situated far away in the northeast. It was momentarily calm in the moment of the front's crossing before winds turned to the southwest. The air mass got cooler a bit after the wind was turned and the maximum temperature was +20 C in the photoshooting day. The occasionally plentyfull cloudyness kept the temperatures rather up also at nights locally, but clearly the warmest night was in the photoshooting day as associated with the crossing of the front and its precipitation area; the temperatures were locally about +15 C, but the lowest readings of the day were reached only at the end of the evening as the weather calmed down and cleared allmost completely. After the front there formed again showers in the southwesterly wind, but now there appeared thunder mainly just over the sea. The warm sea (Baltic Sea as well) strengthened the showers further more especially at night. In the evening the showers disappeared quickly due to a ridge of high pressure. That picture is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards northwestern sky. In there we see in an exciting way, how the afternoon showers evolved at very different times, bercause there were showers allready at night; in the right lower corner there was a shower in its early stage (cauliflowery cumulus parts), in the left lower corned a little more up there was an old cumulonimbus cloud's fibrous upper part spreading into a layer of altostratus cloud and in the upper part of the picture there was cirrus - cirrostratus clouds as left behind by an allready vanished shower. In the same air mass the showers can appear just this way irregularly. As opposed to that precipitations of fronts are more in same phases of development. Tämä kuva on otettu samana päivänä kuin edellinen kuva, mutta nyt Espoon Tapiolassa keskelle taivasta. Edellisen kuvan jälkeen matkustin Hämeenlinnasta tälle paikalle iltapäivän aikana, jolloin kuurosateiden ja ukkosten esiintyminen oli melko runsasta. Matkan aikanakin niitä oli monta, mutta en pysähtynyt kuvaamaan niitä, koska olin melkein koko ajan ajamassa moottoritiellä ja voimakkainkaan kuuropilvi (n. 20 - 40 kilometriä Helsingistä pohjoiseen) ei ollut niin erikoinen. Lisäksi minulla oli kiire kahden ystäväni yhdistettyihin syntymäpäiväjuhliin. Kuuropilvet heikkenivät tyypillisesti illalla klo. 18.00 jälkeen ja jäljelle jäi vähän hahtuva - kumpukerrospilviä sekä etenkin untuvapilviä, jotka jäivät myöhemmin yksinään taivaalle. Kuvassa niistä nähdään eräs iltaruskon värjäämä esimerkki. Kuten kuvasta nähdään, niin osa untuvapilvistä oli kokkareisia. Ne olivat siis muuttuneita palleropilvien suuntaan. Palleropilviä muodostuu juuri tällä tavalla, kun alapuolisen ilmamassan lämpö synnyttää konvektiota untuvapilviin. Samaa tapahtuu harsopilvienkin kohdalla. Taivaan selkeneminen lähes kokonaan ja tyyni sää tiesivät tässä vaiheessa pian auringon laskettua sankkaa sumua, jota esiintyi etenkin laajoilla aukeilla alueilla. This picture is taken in the same day as the previous picture, but now in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards the zenith of the sky. After the previous photo i travelled from Hämeenlinna to this place during the afternoon, when the showers and thunder appeared rather profusely. During the trip as well there were many of them, but i didn't stop at photographing them, because i was driving allmost all the time in a highway / motorway and even the strongest cumulonimbus cloud (about 20 to 40 kilometres north from Helsinki) wasn't that special. In addition i was in a hurry to the combined birthday party of my two friends. The showerclouds / cumulonimbus clouds weakened typically in the evening after 6 pm and there was left remaining a little altocumulus - stratocumulus clouds and especially cirrus clouds, which remained later solely in the sky. In the picture we see one example of those cirrus clouds as coloured by the sunset colours. Like we see from the picture a part of the cirrus clouds were lumpy. So they were transformed into the direction of cirrocumulus clouds. Cirrocumulus clouds are formed just in this way, as warrnth of the lower air mass produces a convection to the cirrus clouds. Same happens also with the cirrostratus clouds. The clearing up of the sky allmost completely and the calm weather meant at this stage soon after the sunset an appearing of dense fog, that appeared especially at wide open areas. Nyt idässä ollut korkeapaine oli vetäytynyt kauemmaksi itään, mutta Suomen eteläpuolella ollut matalapaine oli heikentynyt lähes olemattomiin. Eteläinen Suomi kuului kuitenkin laajaan Atlantille ulottuvaan matalapaineen alueeseen, jossa oli edellisten päivien tapaan monta osakeskusta ja rintamaa kuurottaisine sateineen, mutta ilmanpaine-erot olivat pieniä. Sen takia tuulet olivat hyvin heikkoja, mutta kuurosateiden puuskat olivat paikallisesti voimakkaita lyhyitä aikoja. Etelä-Suomi kuului edelleen lämpimään ilmamassaan (päivän ylin lämpötila oli +23,6 astetta), jossa heikentynyt tuuli kävi idästä matalan keskuksen oltua Suomen etelä - kaakkoispuolella. Tyyntyneessä ja kohtalaisen kosteassa säässä esiintyi yöllä ja aamulla monin paikoin usvaa ja sumua. Sama päti seuraavaan yöhönkin. Päiväsaikaan esiintyi voimistuneen termiikin takia sadekuuroja ja ukkosta edellistä päivää runsaammin; syynä mm. yhä lisääntynyt kosteus, kun sää tyyntyi. Kuurot olivat myös voimakkaampia ja niinpä niiden kehityskin alkoi aikaisemmin. Tämä kuva on otettu Hämeenlinnassa etelälounaiselle taivaalle. Siinä nähdään kuuropilvien varhaista kehitysvaihetta, jossa sade oli juuri alkamassa pilvien alla. Kehittynein korkea kumpupilvi - melkein kuuropilvi oli taaimmaisena (sen tyypillisesti suora alareuna näkyy kuvassa aivan alareunassa) ja sen edessä (lähempänä kuvaajaa) oli vasta kehittyneitä kumpupilviä. Tällä tavalla jo päivän alussa kuurot olivat vaihtelevasti eri kehitysvaiheissa, kuten tilanteessa kuulukin olla. Auringonsäteet olivat tässäkin hyvin näkyvissä pilvien varjojen takia. Now the high pressure in the east had been withdrawn further eastwards, but the low pressure in the southern side of Finland had been weakened into an allmost vanished stage. However southern Finland remained in the area of the large low pressure reaching Atlantic, where in the way of previous days there were several subcenters and fronts with their showery rains, but the air pressure differences were small. Due to that winds were very weak, but gusts of the showers were locally strong for short periods of time. Southern Finland remained further in the warm air mass (the maximum temperature of the day was +23,6 C), where the calmed wind came from the east, as the center of the low pressure was situated in the southern - southeastern side of Finland. In the calmed down and moderately moist weather there appeared mist and fog in many places during the night and morning. The same applied to the following night as well. During the daytime there appeared more showers and thunder than during the previous day due to a strengthened thermal; a reason being amongst others the increased moisture as the weather calmed down. The showers were also stronger and therefore their appearing started earlier. This picture is taken in Hämeenlinna towards south-southwestern sky. In there we see an early stage of the showerclouds development, where rain was just starting under the clouds. The most evolved tall cumulus cloud - allmost cumulonimbus cloud was in the backmost (its typically straight lower edge is seen in the picture right in the lower edge) and in the front of it (closer to the photographer) there were just formed cumulus clouds. In this way allready at the beginning of the day the showers were variably in different phases of development, as they should be in this situation. Edelliseen kuvaan verrattuna tässä nähdään samana päivänä Hämeenlinnassa kuvattua kohtalaista kuuropilveä. Näkymä oli kohti etelätaivasta. Ko. päivänä kuurot olivat melko harvassa Etelä-Suomessa ja niiden esiintyminen keskittyi tyypillisesti iltapäivään ja iltaan. Tuo pilvi oli siis heikkenemässä. Se havaittiin tuon pilven yläosan kuitumaisesta rakenteesta. Sateen juovia oli vielä vasemmassa alakulmassa ja pilven yläosassa oli vähän kumpumuotojakin, joten pilvi oli vielä parisen tuntia elinvoimainen. Ukkosta en pilvessä (enää) havainnut sen liikkuessa hitaasti oikealle. Näiden pilvien alaosista jää tyypillisesti hahtuva - kumpukerrospilviä ja yläosista untuva - harsopilviä. Voimakkaiden kuuropilvien yläosista jää myös verhopilvilauttoja. Nämä jäänteet voivat toimia seuraavana päivänä tiivistymiskeskuksina - alueina uusille kuuroille. Edellisen päivän okluusiorintaman jälkeen jääneistä hahtuva - kumpukerrospilvistä oli vastaavalla tavalla apua tämän päivän kuurojen muodostumiselle. Kuuro voi siis syntyä myös esim. kumpukerrospilven konvektion lisääntyessä eikä vain "tyhjästä" kumpupilvivaiheen kautta. Syksyn lähestyminen näkyi tässä vaiheessa iltaruskon varhentumisena tähän aikaan. Tällaiset illan yksittäiset kuuropilvet näyttävät etenkin yläosissaan erinomaisesti ruskon värejä, kuten kuvasta havaitaan. Sama pätee aamuunkin, mutta silloin tällaisia kuuropilviä on harvoin; lähinnä vain rannikon lähellä ja meren yllä loppukesällä - syksyllä lämpimän Suomenlahden vaikutuksesta. As compared to the previous picture we see here a moderate showercloud / cumulonimbus cloud as pictured during the same day in Hämeenlinna. The view was towards southern sky. During this day the showers were rather few and far between and their appearance was concentrated typically in the afternoon and evening. So that cloud was weakening. It was observed from the fibrous structure of the clouds upper part. There was yet precipitation stripes on the lower left corner and in the cloud's upper part there was also a little cumulus shapes, so the cloud was yet vital for couple of hours. I didn't notice thunder (anymore) in the cloud as it was moving slowly to the right. From the lower parts of these clouds there remain typically altocumulus - stratocumulus clouds and from the upper parts cirrus - cirrostratus clouds. From severe cumulonimbus clouds there remain also layers of altostratus clouds. These clouds can function as condensation centers - areas for new showers / cumulonimbus clouds in the following day. In the same way there was also help for the formation of this days showers from the altocumulus - stratocumulus clouds remained after the occluded front in the previous day. So a shower can also form for example as convection is increasing in a stratocumulus cloud and not only from "nothing" through a cumulus cloud phase. The approaching of autumn was visible at this time as the sunset colours were being moved earlier into this time. These kinds of single cumulonimbus clouds of the evening show excellently sunset colours especially on their upper parts. The same aplys also to the morning, but then these kinds of cumulonimbus clouds appear rarely; mainly just near the coast and over the sea during late summer - autumn due to the effect of warm The Gulf Of Finland. Suomen eteläpuolelle paikalleen jäänyt matalapaine alkoi hitaasti heiketä kuvauspäivänä. Sen myötä edellisen päivän kohtalaiset itätuulet tyyntyivät vähitellen. Ko. matalapaine oli edelleen osa laajaa Atlantille ulottuvaa matalapainetta; siinä oli useita osakeskuksia ja rintamia. Ilmanpaine-erot olivat Euroopan alueella pieniä vielä kesälle tyypilliseen tapaan, mutta monin paikoin esiintyi voimakkaita sade- ja ukkoskuuroja. Ilmamassa pysyi Etelä-Suomessa tavanomaista lämpimämpänä, kun ilmamassa jäi sään tyynnyttyä paikalleen. Päivälämpötila oli +20 ja +25 asteen välillä ja yökin oli lämmin etenkin niillä alueilla, joilla oli runsasta pilvisyyttä; esim. Puistolan tarkastelupaikalla alin lukema oli +14.0 astetta. Etelärannikolla myös lämmin meri (n. +20 astetta) lämmitti paikoin yötä ja vielä heikentymätön tuuli ehkäisi vähän lämpötilojen laskua. Tuulen takia yöllä - aamulla ei ollut usvaa tai sumua. Yllä on kaksi ko. päivänä otettua kuvaa. Molemmat on otettu Hämeenlinnassa. Edellisen päivän okluusiorintamaan liittyneet pilvet olivat nyt kadonneet tältäkin paikalta, mutta vallinneessa ilmamassassa kasvoi kohtalaisesti kuuro- ja ukkospilviä iltapäivällä. Tämä kuva on otettu lounaistaivaalle melko ylös, jossa eräs kuuropilvi oli kehittymässä varhaisessa vaiheessa. Tässä vaiheessa pilvestä ei vielä satanut, joten sen luokittelu oli korkea kumpupilvi. Tällaiset kukkakaalimaiset kumpupilvet ovat erinomaisia auringon säteiden paljastajina auringon ollessa pilven yläreunan takana piilossa, koska nämä reunat ovat teräväpiirteisiä. Kuvassa nähdäänkin hienot auringonsäteiden kuviot, kun ilma oli myös sopivasti kosteaa; oli sen verran utua, että säteiden valo- ja varjokontrastit olivat selkeät. The low pressure in the southern side of Finland started to weaken slowly during the photoshooting day. Due to that the moderate easterly winds of the previous day calmed down cradually. This low pressure was further a part of the wide low pressure reaching Atlantic; there were several subcenters and fronts in it. The differences in air pressure were small in the area of Europe yet in a summery way, but there appeared heavy showers and thunder in many places. The air mass remained warm in southern Finland, as the air mass stayed in place since the weather calmed down. The afternoon temperature was between +20 C and +25 C and the night was also warm especially in the areas of plentyfull cloudyness; for example the lowest reading in the observation post of Puistola was +14,0 C. By the southern coast the warm sea (about +20 C) warmed up the night locally as well and the yet not weakened wind prevented temperatures from dropping a bit. Due to the wind there didn't appear mist or fog in the night - morning. Above there are two pictures taken in this day. Both are captured in Hämeenlinna. The clouds associated with the previous day's occluded front were now gone also from this place, but in the prevailed air mass there grew moderately shower- and thunderclouds during the afternoon. This picture is taken towards the southwestern sky rather up, where there was one showercloud evolving in an early stage. At this stage there didn't come rain yet from the cloud, so therefore its classifiation was tall cumulus cloud. These kinds of cauliflowery cumulus clouds are excellent at revealing the sunrays as the sun is hiding behind the upper edge of the cloud, because these edges are shaping up sharply. Therefore we see in the picture fine shapes of sunrays, as the air was suitably humid as well; there was haze in such a way, that the light and shade contrasts were clear. Edelliseen kuvaan verrattuna tässä myöhemmin samana päivänä otetussa kuvassa nähdään em. okluusiorintamaan liittyneitä pilviä. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa itätaivaalle. Edellisen kuvan matalalla ollut kumpukerrospilvi oli tässä vaiheessa kadonnut. Yhtäältä osa siitä oli noussut ylemmäksi ja toisaalta osa oli vain siirtynyt länteen itätuulen mukana. Nyt taivaalla oli jäljellä korkeammalla sijainneita kumpukerrospilviä, jolloin ko. pilvilaji oli muuttumassa hahtuvapilviksi. Tämä pilvilajin muutos tapahtuu yleensä tällaisen heikkenevän säärintaman yhteydessä, kun pilvikerros nousi ylemmäs. Osasyy siihen; päiväajan lämpö nostaa helposti pilvien tiivistymiskorkeutta ylemmälle tasolle ja samalla esiintyy tavallaan laaja-alaista termiikkiä. Tämä vaikuttaa parhaiten juuri heikkenevään ja hidasliikkeiseen pilvimassaan (rintamaan), koska voimakkaan ja aktiivisesti kehittyvän rintaman pilvet muotoutuvat enemmän rintaman määräämällä tavalla. Samaan aikaan näiden pilvien kanssa oli myös verhopilviä, jotka olivat kuitenkin melko piilossa sekoittuneena em. pilviin. Kumpukerros - hahtuvapilvet ovat monesti sekoittuneena verhopilvien kanssa sadealueen reunalla tai heikenneen sadealueen kohdalla. Laajan sadepilven heikentynyt versio onkin tyypillisesti näiden kolmen pilvilajin vaihtelevaa massaa; kumpukerros-, hahtuva- ja verhopilvet, kuten tässä tapauksessa. Okluusiorintaman jälkeen ilmamassan lämpötila pysyi suunnilleen ennallaan, mutta kosteus oli lisääntymässä. Se tiesi konvektion voimistumista seuraavaksi päiväksi... The picture is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards eastern sky. The low altitude stratocumulus cloud in the previous photo had been vanished at this stage. In one hand a part of it had been risen upwards and on the other hand a part of it had just been moved westwards with the easterly wind. Now there was left higher altitude stratocumulus clouds, where this cloud type was transforming into altocumulus clouds. This kind of cloud transformation usually happens with this kind of weakening of the weather front, where on the other hand the warmth of the afternoon lifted up the cloud layer upwards at the same time. The partial reason for that; the warmth of the daytime easily lifts up the condensation level of the clouds into a higher level and at the same time there appear a wide spread thermal in a way. That affects the best just into a weakening and slow moving cloud mass (front), because clouds of a strong and actively developing front are shaping more as determinated by the front. With these clouds there was at the same time also altostratus clouds, which were however rather hidden as mixed up with the mentioned clouds. The stratocumulus - altocumulus clouds are often mixed up with the altostratus clouds by the edge of a precipitation area or in the place of a weakened precipitation area. Therefore a weakened form of a nimbostratus cloud is typically a variable mass of these three clouds; stratocumulus, altocumulus and altostratus clouds, like in this case. After the occluded front the temperature of the air mass remained approximately the same, but the air moisture was increasing. That meant a strengthening convection until the following day... Kaakossa edellisenä päivänä voimistunut matalapaine siirtyi kuvauspäiväksi lähelle Suomen eteläpuolelle. Se oli osa Atlantille ulottunutta laajaa ja monta keskusta sisältänyttä matalapainetta. Korkeapaine säilyi vahvana Suomen itä- ja koillispuolella, jonka takia matalapaine osaltaan jäi paikalleen. Siihen liittynyt okluusiorintama saapui samalla mukana, mutta sen myötä ei tullut vielä sateita eteläiseen Suomeen juuri ollenkaan. Vain pilvisyys lisääntyi, koska ko. rintama oli heikkenemässä. Se oli myös hidasliikkeinen ja epämääräinen kiertyessään matalapaineen keskuksen ympärille. Ilmamassa säilyi pilvistä huolimatta lämpimänä, sillä ko. matalapaineen ympäri kiertyi kaakosta edelleen lämmintä ilmaa. Itätuuli voimistui päivän aikana ajoittain kohtalaiseksi. Päivän ylin lämpötila oli +24,0 astetta, mutta lukema saavutettiin vähän ennen taivaan pilvistymistä kokonaan; aamulla oli lähinnä rintamaa tyypillisesti edeltäneitä untuva-, harso- ja verhopilviä. Yllä on kaksi parin tunnin välein otettua kuvaa ko. rintamaan liittyneistä pilvistä. Koska ilmamassa oli tässä vaiheessa vielä melko kuivaa, niin pilvien muodot näkyivät hyvin (ei ollut utua). Tässä kuvassa taivaan oli peittänyt muutamaa tuntia aikaisemmin sellainen kumpukerrospilven laji, joka oli matalalla olevaa ja muistutti sumupilviä (näiden pilvilajien välimuodot ovat tavallisia) ja toisaalta verhopilviä tasaisuutensa vuoksi. Pilvikerrokseen liittyi ohuempia kohtia, jotka näkyivät hauskoina vaaleina laikkuina kuvan tapaan. Samaan aikaan tämän pilvikerroksen yläpuolella oli ylemmässä kuvassa nähtäviä pilviä. The low pressure strengthened in the southeast moved close to the southern side of Finland until the photoshooting day. It was a part of a wide low pressure area with many centers reaching Atlantic. The high pressure remained strong in the northern and northeastern side of Finland, from which reason the low pressure partly stayed in place. An occluded front associated with that arrived along, but along with that there didn't come rain yet allmost at all into southern Finland. Only clouds increased, because the front in question was weakening. It was also slow moving and uneven as it was turning around the center of the mentioned low pressure. The air mass remained warm despite the clouds, because there circled further warm air around the low pressure from the southeast. The easterly wind picked up occasionally into moderate - fresh stage during the day. The maximum temperature of the day was +24,0 C, but the reading was reached just before the sky was covered completely by the clouds; in the morning there was mainly cirrus, cirrostratus and altostratus clouds, which typically proceeded the front. Above there's two pictures of clouds associated with the front taken in the couple of hours interval. Because the air mass was yet rather dry at this stage, therefore the shapes of the clouds were finely visible (there wasn't haze). In this picture the sky had been covered couple of hours earlier by such a form of stratocumulus cloud, that situated at a low altitude and it resembled stratus clouds (transitional forms between these clouds are common) and also altostratus clouds due to its even appearance. There was associated thin spots in the cloud layer, which appeared as light patches in a funny way like in the photo. At the same time above this cloud layer there were clouds seen in the upper picture. This picture is taken in the district of Siltamäki in Helsinki towards northeastern sky. Lainataanpa tähän taas tekstiä Maisema - Landscape blogini saman päivän kohdalta: Kuun 19. ja 20. päivinä Britteinsaarilla ollut matalapaine heikkeni ja siitä erkani itään Suomen eteläpuolelle pieni osakeskus. Samalla Pohjois-Skandinavian (Lapin) ylle muodostui korkeapaine ja aluksi eteläinen Suomi oli heikon korkean selänteen alueella. Ko. päivinä eteläisen Suomen tuulet olivat koko ajan hyvin heikkoja; länsituulet vaihtuivat vähitellen itätuuliksi. Vähäisiä sadekuuroja tuli vielä 19. päivänä etenkin sisämaassa, mutta muutoin vallitsivat lähinnä vain kumpukerros-, hahtuva- ja kumpupilvet vaihtelevasti. Etelä- ja pohjoispuolilla olleet rintamat ulottivat myös untuva- ja harsopilviään esim. tarkastelupaikalle. Sitten kuvausta edeltävään päivään asti Britteinsaarilta Suomen eteläpuolitse Venäjälle ulottuva matalapaine sai Atlantin rintamista ja matalapaineista ajoittain lisävoimaa, jolloin siihen liittyneitä rintamia saapui etelästä ja ne asettuivat pariksi päiväksi eteläisen Suomen lähelle. Samalla kaakkoistuulet toivat yhä lämmintä ilmaa ja kuurottaisia sateita paikallisine ukkosineen esiintyi eteläisen Suomen alueella ja vihdoin etelärannikollakin saatiin paikoin runsaasti sadetta. Kuvauspaikalla sateet jäivät kuitenkin korkeintaan kohtalaisiksi eikä ukkostakaan ollut. Pohjoiseen muodostunut korkeapaine esti rintamaa etenemästä pohjoiseen ja kuvauspäivänä se jäi Suomen etelä- ja lounaispuolelle kaakossa voimistuneesta uudesta matalapaineesta huolimatta. Niinpä edellisten päivien ajoittain runsas pilvisyys vaihtui kuvauspäiväksi vähäisempiin untuva- ja harsopilviin. Tuo kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa kaakkoiselle taivaalle. Ko. pilvet muodostivat vaihtelevia lähinnä etelä - pohjoissuuntaisia tai lounais - koillissuuntaisia kilpiä. Kilvet eivät noudattaneet kunnolla etelässä - lounaassa olleen rintaman asentoa, koska rintama oli hidasliikkeinen ja heikkenemässä. Kuvassa olevan kilven yläosassa oli jalasmaisten untuvapilvien piirteitä, mutta itse kilpi oli tasaista harsopilveä, joka muodostaa helposti haloilmiöitä. Tällä kertaa pilvet olivat sen verran vähenemään päin, että haloilmiöitä ei sattunut kuvattavaksi. Välittömästi ennen kuvausta olin myös tulossa muutaman päivän matkalta Düsseldorfista, jonka takia luonnon seurannassani oli tauko. Tämä ei kuitenkaan estänyt selvittämästä tauon - matkan aikana Suomessa tapahtunutta säätä. Tässä tapauksessa oli hyvin pääteltävissä jälkeen päin, että em. rintamien viipyillessä eteläisen Suomen lähellä pilvilajeina olivat enimmäkseen kumpukerros-, hahtuva-, kuuro- ja em. untuva - harsopilvet verhopilvien kanssa. Ajoittain pilvet muodostivat selviä rintaman suuntaisia nauhoja, kun rintaman sateet olivat voimakkaimmillaan ja jonoissa. Etenkin öisin oli myös vähän sumupilviä. Runsas muu pilvisyys ja ennen rintamia ilmamassan kuivuus ehkäisivät öisiä usva - sumutilanteita. Sen sijaan kaakkoistuulet toivat jälleen Venäjän metsäpalojen savuja Etelä-Suomeen ja kuun 21. päivänä savut olivat sakeimmillaan; tilanteessa kuvauspaikalla vallitsi jopa melkein sumuinen ilma sen takia. Kuvauspäivänä tuulten kääntyminen itään merkitsi savujen jäämistä Suomen eteläpuolelle. Säätilanne: valitse 23.8.2006; Wetter3 A. Wetter3 B.

Let's borrow text into here again from my blog Maisema - Landscape in the place of the same day: during the 19th and the 20th days the low pressure over British Isles weakened and there departed a small subcenter from it to the east in the southern side of Finland. At the same time there formed a high pressure over northern Skandinavia (Lapland) and at first southern Finland was in the area of a weak ridge of high pressure. During both days the winds of southern Finland were all the time very weak; westerly winds turned cradually to easterly winds. There came yet minor showers during the 19th day especially in inland areas, but otherwise there prevailed mainly just stratocumulus, altocumulus and cumulus clouds in variable ways. Fronts in the northern and southern sides distributed their cirrus and cirrostratus clouds as well for example into the observing scene. Then the low pressure reaching from British Isles into Russia via southern side of Finland received oocasionally extra power from fronts and low pressures over Atlantic and so fronts associated with that arrived from the south and they settled near southern Finland for couple of days. At the same time southeasterly winds brought still warm air and showery rains with local thuder appeared in southern Finland and at last also by the southern coast there came locally profuse amounts of rain. However in the photoshooting scene the precipitation was only moderate at the most and there wasn't thunder either. The high pressure formed in the north prevented the front to move northwards and during the photoshooting day it remained in the southern and southwestern side of Finland. Therefore until the photoshooting day the occasionally dense cloudyness of the previous days changed into lesser cirrus and cirrostratus clouds. That picture is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards southeastern sky. Those clouds formed variable shields along the directions of mainly south - north or southwest - northwest. The shields didn't follow properly the position of the front in the south - southwest, because the front was slow moving and weakening. There was skid-like cirrus cloud features in the upper side of the shield in the picture, but the shield itself was an even layer of cirrostratus cloud, which forms easily optical halo phenomenon. At this time the clouds were decreasing in such a way, that there wasn't halos to photograph. Immediately before the photoshoot i was also coming from a few of days long trip from Düsseldorf, from which reason there was a pause in my observing of nature. However that didn't prevent from finding out the weather conditions, that happened in Finland during the pause - trip. In this case it was easy to conclude afterwards, that as the mentioned fronts lingered near southern Finland the cloud types were mainly stratocumulus, altocumulus, cumulonimbus and the mentioned cirrus - cirrostratus clouds with altostratus clouds. Occasionally the clouds formed clear stripes along the direction of the front, as the rains of the fronts were the strongest and in lines. Especially at nights there were also a little stratus clouds. The plentyfull other cloudyness and before the fronts drieness of the air mass were preventing the nightly mist - fog situations. As opposed to that there came again smokes of the forest fires in Russia into southern Finland with the southeasterly winds and at the 21st day the smokes were at their densest stage; in the situation there prevailed allmost foggy air in the photoshooting scene due to that. During the photoshooting day turning of the winds to the east meant the smokes to remain in the southern side of Finland. Weather condition: choose 23.8.2006; Wetter3 A. Wetter3 B.
