Korkeapaine vallitsi Suomen yllä edellisestä tilanteesta lähtien ja kuvauspäivään mennessä sen keskus oli asettunut Suomen itäpuolelle. Samalla Suomen eteläpuolelle jäi matalapaine kehittyvine ja kuolevine osakeskuksineen lähes paikalleen. Pohjoisella Atlantilla Lappia lähestyi melko voimakas matalapaine, mutta em. korkeapaine jarrutti sen etenemistä huomattavasti. Tämä merkitsi eteläisen Suomen säässä helteistä, mutta mantereisen kuivaa ilmamassaa. Mantereisuutta pitivät yllä lähinnä itätuulet, jolloin ilmaa virtasi koko ajan mantereiselta Venäjältä. Tämä tiesi termiikkipilvien eli kumpupilvien vähentymistä edellisestä tilanteesta entisestään. Kaikkina päivinä niitä silti oli, mutta vain hyvin vähäisiä määriä vähän aikaa. Merituuli vaikutti heikosti sen verran tässäkin vaiheessa kesää, että Suomenlahden yllä ei kumpupilviä esiintynyt. Kuun 6. päivänä idästä yritti virrata viileää ilmaa korkeapaineen ympäri, jolloin tilanteessa olleen kylmän rintaman takia eteläisessä Suomessa esiintyi vähän myös untuvapilviä etenkin tuona päivänä. Tuulet olivat koko ajan heikkoja ja öisin oli jopa täysin tyyntä. Selkeän sään ja heikon tuulen vuoksi öisin oli melko viileää (n. +10 astetta), vaikka päivälämpötilat olivat vähän yli +25 astetta. Edelleen lämpimänä säilynyt meri (n. +20 astetta ja matalissa rantavesissä pari astetta enemmänkin) lämmitti kuitenkin paikoin etelärannikolla ja saaristossa yölämpötiloja n. +15 asteeseen. Yllä oleva kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa etelätaivaalle. Siinä nähdään tilanteelle tyypillistä selkeää taivasta vasten savuja ohuina kerroksina. Ne leijailivat vallinneiden tuulten mukana ajoittain ennen näkemättömän runsaina etelärannikolle parin edellisenkin päivän aikana Venäjällä lähellä Suomen rajaa olleista useista metsäpaloista. Tämän takia ilmassa oli ajoittain jopa erittäin selvä savun haju ja monelle ihmiselle aiheutui eriasteisia haittaavia oireita. Suuressa osassa etelärannikkoa (ja joillakin sisämaa-alueilla) tämä kuvasti omituisella tavalla tässä vaiheessa kaikkien aikojen pahimmaksi kehittynyttä kuivuutta; Suomen maaperällä tämä oli täysin uudenlainen kokemus, vaikka kuivuutta on ollut aikaisemminkin. A high pressure prevailed over Finland since the previous situation and until the photoshooting day its center had been settled to the eastern side of Finland. At the same time there remained a low pressure in place in the southern side of Finland with its evolving and dying subcenters. There approached a rather strong low pressure over Atlantic towards Lapland, but the mentioned high pressure slowed down its advancing a lot. This meant a hot, but continentally dry air mass in the southern Finland's weather. The continental feature was maintained by mainly easterly winds, where there flowed continuously air from the continental Russia. This meant decreasing of the thermal or in other words the cumulus clouds furthermore since the previous situation. In every day they appeared though, but only in very small amounts for short periods of time. The sea breeze was affecting weakly also at this phase of the summer in such a way, that the cumulus clouds didn't appear over The Gulf Of Finland. During the 6th day of the month there tried to flow cool air from the east around the high pressure and therefore there appeared also small amounts of cirrus clouds in southern Finland due to a cold front in the situation especially during that day. Winds were all the time weak and at nights there was even completely calm. Due to the clear weather and calm winds there was rather cool (about +10 C) at nights, allthough the afternoon temperatures were a bit over +25 C. However the sea remained further warm (about +20 C and in shallow shores a couple of degrees higher as well) warmed locally the night temperatures up to about +15 C by the southern coast and in island areas. The picture above is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards southern sky. In there against the typical clear sky of the situation we see smokes in thin layers. They floated occasionally in amounts never seen before into the southern coast during couple of last days as well from several forest fires in Russia near Finland's border. Due to this there was occasionally even a very clear scent of smoke in the air and there appeared harmfull symptoms in various degrees to many people. In large parts of southern coast (and in some inland areas as well) this was reflecting in a peculiar way the drought progressed at this stage into the worst of all time; this was totally a new kind of experience on the soil of Finland, allthough there have been drought before as well.
