Pilvilajeja kylmemmän polaari-ilman saapuessa - Cloud types as a colder polaric air arrives

Tyyni ja pilvinen korkeapainetilanne kehittymässä - A calm and cloudy high pressure situation evolving

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Kumpukerrospilviä rakoilevana kerroksena. Muualla taivaalla oli paikoin sumupilviä. Aikaisemmin aamulla yön sumut ja sumupilvet viipyivät paikoin myös tällä alueella ja yöllä tuli vähän sadetta. Kuva on otettu Helsingin Pasilassa lounaistaivaalle. Tyynessä säässä pilvien kulkusuuntaa ei juuri havainnut; koillisesta lounaaseen. Näiden pilvien yläpuolella liikkui alkupäivällä kaakkoon edellisen päivän rintaman jäänteen untuva- ja harsopilviä - Stratocumulus clouds as a broken layer. Elsewhere in the sky there was locally stratus clouds. Earlier in the morning fog and stratus clouds of the night lingered locally at this region as well and there came a bit of rain at night. The photo is taken towards southwestern sky in the district of Pasila in Helsinki. In the calm weather one hardly didn't notice the movement of the clouds; from the northeast to the southwest. Above these clouds during early day there moved to the southeast cirrus and cirrostratus clouds of the front's remain.

Syksyisen pilvinen korkean selänne - An autumnally cloudy ridge of high pressure

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Hyvin hidasliikkeistä yhtenäistä kerrosta sumupilviä. Ne muodostuivat edellisen päivän kumpukerrospilvistä ja yön kosteudesta lähes tyynessä säässä. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa koillistaivaalle. Vastakkaisella puolella näiden pilvien yläpuolella oli lähestymässä heikkenevän rintaman pilvisyyttä; untuva-, verho- ja hahtuvapilviä - A very slow moving even layer of stratus clouds. They formed from the previous day's stratocumulus clouds and from the humidity of the night in an allmost calm weather. The photo is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards northeastern sky. On the opposite site above these clouds there was approaching cloudiness of a weakening front; cirrus, altostratus and altocumulus clouds.

Heikkoja sadekuuroja viilenneessä polaari-ilmamassassa - Weak showers in the cooled down polaric air mass

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Kuuropilvet olivat heikentymässä pois tässä vaiheessa pohjoiseen kääntyneessä tuulessa. Matalista kuuroista jäi jäljelle lähes yhtenäistä kerrosta kumpukerrospilviä; kuvassa vähän laskevan auringon värjääminä. Pilvien muodot näkyivät edelleen hyvin uduttoman polaari-ilmamassan ansiosta. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa lounaistaivaalle - The cumulonimbus clouds had been weakening away at this phase in the wind turned to the north. From the flat showers there were left allmost even layers of stratocumulus clouds; in the photo as a bit coloured by the setting sun. Shapes of the clouds appeared further well thanks to the haze-free polaric air mass. The photo is taken towards southwestern sky in the district of Tapiola in Espoo.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Luoteesta - pohjoisesta lähestyneen heikon kuuropilven etupuolella ollutta heikkoa vyörypilveä. Se ja kuuro olivat käytännössä kumpukerrospilveä (joka on osaltaan kuuropilven jäännettä); kuurossa oli vain vähän tihkutyyppistä sadetta. Tuulet olivat voimakkaimmillaan vain kohtalaisia etenkin iltapäivän kuurojen kohdilla. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa etelätaivaalle - A weak arcus cloud in the foreside of a weak cumulonimbus cloud approached from the northwest - north. It and the shower were practically a stratocumulus cloud (which is partly as a remain of a cumulonimbus cloud); there was only little of drizzle typed rain in the shower. Winds were only moderate at the strongest especially during the afternoon showers. The photo is taken towards southern sky in the district of Tapiola in Espoo.

In the right lower corner there were a little of stratus clouds lit by the sun. At this phase there was a rather long pause in weak showers. Polaari-ilmamassan pilviä, mutta vielä leutoa - Clouds of a polaric air mass, but yet mild

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Hahtuvapilvilauttoja jäänteenä itään siirtyneistä kuurosateista. Niiden joukossa näkyi vielä viimeiset auringossa hohtaneet kuuropilvien yläosat (keskellä kuvan alaosaa). Viileänä vuodenaikana kuuroissa ei ollut enää ukkosta. Kuivuneessa polaari-ilmamassassa taivaan sinisyys näkyi voimakkaana. Kuva on otettu Hämeenlinnassa kaakkoistaivaalle - Layers of altocumulus clouds as remains of showers moved to the east. Among them there appeared yet the last cumulonimbus cloud tops glowed in the sun (in the middle of the photo's lower part). In the cool season there wasn't thunder anymore in the showers. In the dried up polaric air mass the blueness of the sky appeared strongly. The photo is taken in Hämeenlinna towards southeastern sky.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Tummat kokkareet olivat kumpukerrospilviä ja niiden yläpuolella näkyi erään kuuropilven tasaisen näköistä yläosaa; auringon suuntaan kuvattuna se näytti myös melko tummalta. Pilvien muodot näkyivät hyvin edellisen päivän udun kadottua. Pilvet liikkuivat kohtalaisesti itään. Kuva on otettu Hämeenlinnassa kohti lounaistaivasta - The dark lumps were stratocumulus clouds and above them there appeared an even looking top of one cumulonimbus cloud; as photographed towards the sun it was also looking rather dark. Shapes of the clouds were appearing clearly as haze of the previous day was disappeared. The clouds moved moderately to the east. The photo is taken in Hämeenlinna towards southwestern sky.

Leudon ilmamassan ja rintamasysteemin pilviä yhdessä - Clouds of a mild air mass and a frontal system together

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Yhtenäistä sumupilveä kuvattuna Espoon Tapiolassa etelätaivaalle. Pilvet peittivät näkyvistä niiden yläpuolella olleet rintamapilvet; hahtuva-, verho- ja sadepilvet. Sumupilvien kokkareiset osat liikkuivat melko voimakkaan lounaistuulen mukana tyypillisen vauhdikkaasti. Utu samensi hieman näkyvyyttä - An even layer of stratus clouds photographed in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards southern sky. The clouds hidd away the frontal clouds above them; altocumulus, altostratus and nimbostratus clouds. The clumpy parts of the stratus clouds moved typically fast along with the rather strong southwesterly wind. Haze blurred a bit the view.

Merellisiä sadekuuroja - Marine showers

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Päivän mittaan pilvisyys väheni hieman, mutta hahtuva-, kumpukerros- ja kuuropilviä oli edelleen etenkin meren yllä. Tässä oli yksi kuuropilvi kuvattuna Helsingin Vuosaaressa kohti etelätaivasta (merelle). Pilvessä saattoi olla vähän ukkosta, mutta en havainnut sitä. Pilvet olivat hitaassa liikkeessä koilliseen - The cloudiness decreased a bit during the day, but altocumulus, stratocumulus and cumulonimbus clouds appeared further especially over the sea. Here was one cumulonimbus cloud photographed in the district of Vuosaari in Helsinki towards southern sky (to the sea). There might have been a bit of thunder in the cloud, but I didn't notice it. The clouds were on a slow move to the northeast.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Tasaisia ja verhopilvimäisiä hahtuvapilvilauttoja. Niiden seassa oli kehittyviä kuuropilvien alkuja, kuten tässä taivaanrannassa. Etelä-Suomen päällä edelleen viipynyt pieni matalapaine kehitti kuuropilviä etenkin suhteellisen lämpimän (yli +10 astetta) meren yllä; kuva on otettu Helsingin Pasilassa etelätaivaalle (meren suuntaan) - Layers of even and altostratus-like altocumulus clouds. Among them there were evolving beginnings of cumulonimbus clouds, like in here in the horizon. The low pressure further lingered over southern Finland produced cumulonimbus clouds especially over the relatively warm (over +10 C) sea; the photo is taken in the district of Pasila in Helsinki towards southern sky (towards the sea).

Pilvijäänteitä leudossa ja tyynessä säässä - Cloud remains in a mild and calm weather

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Hahtuvapilveä iltaruskon värjäämänä. Pilvilaji oli jäännettä Etelä-Suomen päälle jääneen heikenneen matalapaineen sateista. Pilvisyys pysyi runsaana huolimatta sen rakoilusta. Kuuropilvet olivat heikkoja. Alueella oli lähes tyyntä; pilvet liikkuivat hitaasti koilliseen. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa pohjoistaivaalle - Altoculumus clouds as coloured by the sunset. The cloud type was a remain of the precipitation associated with a weakened low pressure remained over southern Finland. The cloudiness remained profuse despite it was being broken. Cumulonimbus clouds were weak. There was allmost calm in the region; the clouds moved slowly to the northeast. The photo is taken towards northern sky in the district of Tapiola in Espoo.

Okluusiorintaman takapuolen pilviä - Clouds of the occluded front's backside

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Tummat pilvet olivat hitaasti heikossa etelätuulessa liikkuneita kumpukerrospilviä. Niiden yläpuolella oli tiivistä kerrosta hahtuvapilveä ja heikennyttä sadepilveä em. rintamaan liittyen. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa länsitaivaalle auringon laskun aikaan. - The dark clouds were stratocumulus clouds moving slowly with the weak southerly wind. Above them there was a tight layer of altocumulus clouds and weakened nimbostratus clouds associating with the mentioned front. The photo is taken towards the western sky in the district of Tapiola in Espoo around the time of the sunset.

Pilvilajilla oli vähän verhopilvien ominaisuutta ja se liittyi Etelä-Suomen päällä olleeseen okluusiorintaman sadealueeseen. Etelätuuli oli heikkoa. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa etelätaivaalle - Altocumulus clouds formed from nimbostratus clouds as a bit broken layer. The cloud type had a bit of an altostratus cloud property in it and it was associated with the precipitation area of the occluded front settled over southern Finland. Southerly winds were weak. Hyvin leudon polaari-ilmamassan pilvilajeja - Cloud types of a very mild polaric air mass

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Rakoilevaa kerrosta kumpukerrospilviä kuvattuna Espoon Tapiolassa kohti koillistaivasta. Pilvet liikkuivat lounaasta koilliseen. Hieman voimistunut lounaistuuli oli tässä vaiheessa haihduttanut udun. Tällöin paikalle saapuneen ilmamassan kuivahko ominaisuus pääsi esille. Kuvaajan takana taivaanrannassa oli lähestymässä uuden okluusiorintaman untuva- ja harsopilviä - A broken layer of stratocumulus clouds as photographed in the district of Tapiola in Espoo towards northeastern sky. The clouds moved from the southwest to the northeast. A bit strengthened southwesterly winds had evaporated haze at this phase. Therefore the rather dry property of the air mass was able to appear. Behind the photographer there was approaching cirrus and cirrostratus clouds of a new occluded front in the horizon.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Sumupilviä ohuina lauttoina hitaassa liikkeessä lounaasta koilliseen. Ilmamassa oli edelleen hyvin leutoa, mutta se oli vaihtunut edellisen illan ja yön rintaman jälkeen kuivempaan polaari-ilmamassaan; kosteus kuitenkin viipyi heikossa tuulessa aamulla, joten ilmassa oli myös taivaan sinisyyttä samentanutta utua. Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa etelätaivaalle - Stratus clouds as thin layers on a slow move from the southwest to the northwest. The air mass was further very mild, but it had been changed into a drier one after the previous evening's and night's front; however the humidity lingered in the weak winds during the morning, so there was haze in the air as well blurring the blueness of the sky. Juuri ennen voimakasta rintamasadetta - Just before a heavy frontal rain

Alimmat pilvet liikkuivat etelästä pohjoiseen; etelätuuli oli kohtalaista. Kuva on otettu Hämeenlinnassa kohti etelätaivasta - Stratus and stratocumulus clouds as an even layer and above them cloudiness of the front arrived from the southwest; nimbostratus, altostratus and altocumulus clouds.
