Edellisenä päivänä lounaasta lähestyi hitaasti rintamasysteemi ja ko. okluusiorintama (okluusiopiste eli lämpimän sektorin kärki oli kuitenkin lähellä) ylitti eteläisen Suomen kuurottaisine sateineen ja paikallisine ukkosineen aamun ja illan välisenä aikana. Siinä yhteydessä pilvisyys vaihteli rintaman ylityksen mukaan alun untuva- ja harsopilvistä sade- ja kuuropilvien kautta loppuvaiheen sumu-, hahtuva- ja kumpukerrospilviin. Kuvauspäivänä matalapaineet olivat muotoutuneet pitkäksi jonoksi Britteinsaarten tienoilta Suomen yli. Niinpä kuurottaisia sateita ja ukkostakin esiintyi edelleen, mutta lähinnä vain lounaisimmassa ja keskisessä Suomessa. Ilmamassa viileni vähän edellisen päivän aikana; nyt päivälämpötilat olivat +20 ja 25 asteen välillä ja edellisenä yönä selkeässä ja tyynessä hetkessä ko. alueen alin lukema oli +9,7 astetta. Yöllä vallitsi silti vaihtelevasti sumupilviä erityisesti sisämaassa rannikkoa suuremman lämmön ulossäteilyn ja sisämaan kosteampien maiden takia. Monin paikoin oli myös sumua - usvaa koko eteläisessä Suomessa. Muutoin oli vähän lähinnä untuva-, hahtuva-, kumpukerros- ja päivällä erivaiheisia kuuropilviäkin. Tuo kuva on otettu illalla Helsingin kaivopuistossa kohti luoteistaivasta melko ylös. Siinä oli untuvapilveä jäänteenä päivän aikaisemmista vähäisistä kuuroista. Pilvessä oli jo hieman iltaruskon sävyjä, vaikka aurinko paistoi vielä vähän horisontin yläpuolella. Samaan aikaan kaukana lounaisella taivaanrannalla oli lähestymässä ukkoskuurojono, joka liittyi siellä olleeseen pieneen matalapaineen osakeskukseen. Ne pilvet saivat voimaa myös lämpimästä merestä, mikä on tyypillistä tälle vuodenajalle erityisesti auringon laskettua. Muutoin pilvisyys oli tilapäisesti vähäistä. Myöhemmin yöllä ko. pilvialue saapui myös Helsinkiin, mutta siinä vaiheessa ukkosta ei kuuroihin enää liittynyt tällä alueella. Säätilanne: valitse 16.8.2006; Wetter3 A. Wetter3 B.

During the previous day there approached slowly a frontal system from the southwest and the occluded front in question (however the tip of the warm sector was near) crossed southern Finland with its showery rain and local thunder between the morning and the evening. As associated with that the cloudyness varied according to the crossing of the front from early cirrus and cirrostratus clouds via nimbostratus and cumulonimbus clouds to late phase stratus, altocumulus and stratocumulus clouds. During the photoshooting day low pressures were formed into a long line reaching from around British Isles to across Finland. Therefore showers and also thunder appeared further, but mainly in the southwesternmost corner and central Finland only. The air mass got cooler during the previous day; now the afternoon temperatures were between +20 C and +25 C and in the last night in the calm and clear moment the minimum reading was +9,7 C. During the night there prevailed variably stratus clouds though especially in inland areas due to a bigger amount of exit radiation of warmth than by the coast and due to more moist grounds in inland areas. There was fog - mist as well in many places in whole southern Finland. Otherwise there was a little mainly cirrus, altocumulus, stratocumulus and during the day time also cumulonimbus clouds in various phases. That picture is taken in Kaivopuisto park in Helsinki towards northwestern sky rather up. There was a cirrus cloud as a remain of the minor showers of the earlier day. There was allready a little sunset colours in the cloud, allthough the sun was yet shining above the horizon. At the same time far away in the southwestern horizon there was approaching a line of thundershowers, which was associated with a small low pressure subcenter. Those clouds gained power also from the warm sea, which is typical for this time of the year especially as the sun has set. Otherwise the cloudyness was temporarily minor. Later in the night that area of clouds arrived also into Helsinki, but at that time there wasn't thunder anymore with the showers in this region. Weather condition: choose 16.8.2006; Wetter3 A.
